After only 3 months and reaching the top spot, Skye takes a month leave of absence.
The first time I heard the world class voice and haunting piano melodies of Skye Galaxy performing live in Second Life, it was at one of Moondoggirl Moomintoog's musical venues. Within minutes, my SL music listening experience had been changed forever.I was listening to the voice of an unknown and unknowing maestro who had captured my musical self with a fervor like a hurricane.
Over the next month I became like a teeny bopper of my younger years, anxiously awaiting each and every concert that Skye Galaxy would perform live on the SL music grid. Sometimes three live shows a day. I would arrive early to every gig. Many times, 30 minutes early, just to hang around so I was sure to be one of the lucky ones allowed in the soon to be filled up sim. I had not experienced this many people consistently at SL musical events since the early days when there were only a handful of music artists performing live, including my own concerts. I was becoming like many of my own fans who come to every show. I was hooked. I was experiencing the perspective of a true fan and I was was enjoying every moment of it.
Who was this Skye Galaxy? I was starting to google his SL name and ask around to his many fans if anyone had more information on this virtual world music phenomenon rocking the grid of second life. One person said he wanted to keep his RL separate and was not revealing his true identity. Then someone else told me that he had a band in RL and didn't want to mix the two, keeping his virtual self a unique separate reality for himself and his loving fans. Finally, after some persistence, I started to get bits of information that would soon identify this young, 20 year old, vocal powerhouse. Mainly, it was the name of his band project from a couple years prior, Apolloschild, that led me to his RL name and opened up the door to some of his recorded music and websites.
apolloschild.net is the Sean Ryan blog site and a good way to keep up with this young artists creative thoughts. He is also a part of thesixtyone.com website.
Skye has booked up several days in February to perform again in SL. He has committed to another month of performance and I know the fans are excited. Join his "Skye High" group to get notices about his SL music activities.
