Machinima Collaboration Launches New Show Approach

Second Life music icon is a catalyst for bringing together musicians and artists

One of the most satisfying aspects of working in the Second Life platform is the ability to collaborate with artists, musicians, machinima creators, scripters and more from around the globe.

Cypress Rosewood has always explored the results of creative people working together. He has continually inspired people to come in world (SL) to share their creations, as well as, corralling people together in new combinations to create entirely new pieces of performance art. He has done the same all his life in the real world as well. Acting as a catalyst, spawning new artistic ideas, performances, musical endeavors and creative partnerships.

The recent presentation of "Red Lashes from Mars" demonstrated another new performance art piece only attainable in the virtual world of Second Life. It was the first stepping stone to Cyp's new machinima series to start in 2010 which will bring the talents of different people together for each monthly episode, creating a unique piece of metamedia art for each show. The working title for the series is Sight, Sound and Motion with Cypress Rosewood.

This first machinima piece brought together the amazing talents of scripting sculptor, Kolor Fall, with machinima artist, Stretch Mayo and a new musical piece created by Cyp while interacting with Kolor's colossal kinetic sculptures on the Kolor sim. The resulting Red Lashes from Mars machinima then became the inspiration for a live performance and audience participation performance art experience that blew the minds of everyong involved. These types of new performance experiences will be documented with a brief interview of the participating at the beginning of each show. Some of the artists and musicians involved include: Jana Kyomoon, Fricker Fracker, Professor Blackmountain, Hathead Rickenbacker, InterfaceD and many more. These new collaborations are just a small part of the creative explosion being fostered by these parallel worlds.
